International students have been hit the hardest by the Corona virus pandemic. As the economy has been shutdown for weeks now, international students lost their source of income. Without their part time jobs, many students are in the verge of starvation and homelessness.

However, among all the chaos, the Australian community has risen up to provide some comfort to the students. Many restaurant are providing free food to the needy students all over atudents. Expert Education, an education consultancy is one of them.

Early April, Expert announced that they would support the students that migrated to Australia through their organization. They announced a COVID fund of $200,000 in order to provide some relief to those in need. The COVID fund was available to anyone who applied through EEVS after October of 2019.

A total of 702 application were lodged for the relief package. But, only 502 were fortunate enough to receive the financial support. The rest, 200, were rejected for various reasons.

According to Expert, they spent around $175,000 on Woolworth groceries, just on the month of May. They also provided $20,000 to the various state branches of Non-Resident Nepali Association. Additionally, Experts have also donated $32,140 to various community organizations and $52,140 to various nonprofit organizations.

After spending over $230,000 on the COVID relief package, Expert has now stopped accepting applications. However, there are many students who still email and call the consultancy in hopes of receiving some form of help. So, they’ve been providing $100 cash to the students who genuinely need it.
