Supreme Court seeks govt’s work plan on polls
Mar 3, 2017 under Current Affairs 114
The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered the government to give within 10 days the details of its work plan to hold provincial and parliamentary elections before January 22.
A division bench of justices Hari Krishna Karki and Anil Kumar Sinha passed the order on a petition filed by Advocate Chandra Kanta Gyawali and others.
The petitioners had demanded that the dates for parliamentary and provincial elections be declared and a constituency delimitation commission be formed to determine first-past-the-post election constituencies for the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies.
