Back at home, the security personnel are busy carrying on their brutality on Nepalese community, in Darjeeling, where majority of the people speak Nepalese language. India, carrying an ironical policy has a prescription for Nepal, though. They support inclusiveness in Nepal and disregard the same, back at home. This ironical behaviour has sparked a fire in India and in Nepal, in the Terai plains.
When they manhandle situations in Kashmir, its a law and order situation but when the security forces in Nepal's Terai region works on maintaing law and order, then they have a different viewpoint. This shows that India holds a very unclear position about inclusiveness and democracy. India needs to put its home in order before prescribing anything to any other countries. India is not in a position to prescribe anything to anyone, at least on today's date. If it does, even then its least heard because it has a lot to work on, inside its own perimeters.
Nepal, with an overwhelming majority of more than 90% passed the first and only constitution through the constituent assembly, which is evident. India on the other hand had its constituion passed by merely a 55% majority. Therefore, India must learn from its own history and understand where it's 'prescription' fits the best or if it really fits in the first place.
India needs to solve the Kashmir issue and most importantly the current issue in Darjeeling without any delay. That's a must to win Nepal's heart, and most importantly to win the Nepalese community's heart within its own boundaries. Lead by example if you have to! India today lacks a far-sighted neighbourhood policy. It needs to learn where it's 'neighbourhood first' policy went wrong and quickly mend it to avoid further damage. India that aims to be a 'Global Power' needs to be a regional power first and that can be done only with the consent of its neighbours, not by forcing 'powers' on them. India time and again loves to compare itself with the Global Economic power, China but is it even in a comparable position? The question itself is not been answered properly. So, its high time India works on its foreign policy and most importantly the 'neighbourhood first' policy to understand the gravity of the real situation.
Imposing a Bengali Language on the Nepalese community is the worst thing the WB (Indian) Government can do! But here it is! Trying to act smart and actually being smart is a different thing. India needs to be smart than just acting smart. The media propaganda is at its peak in the whole world. Indian media itself acknowledges this, time and again. The british era policy will not work today, not at all! The mindset of understanding its neighbour countries as its 'satellite states' is one of the root cause of the current situation. The embargo on Nepal, immediately after the promulgation of the 2015 contitution of Nepal, was the result of that very mindset. Why isn't its neighbours happy? Isn't it a high time to ponder upon?
Wanting a puppet government like that in Bhutan or imposing an embargo to topple the 'unwanted' government in the neighbourhood; was it really workable everywhere? NO IT WAS NOT! Nepal was not Bhutan and will not be at least until there is the sun and the moon on the planet and in our flags! The bigger agenda of India seems to be turning Nepal into Bhutan, Fiji or into Sikkim in anyway and everyway possible. So, we need to be aware of this policy and continously stand against the expansionism of India and any policy of its working toward's this goal.
Having said all this, we will have our own way of mending things and will do so! Assuring most of the population that this constituent is the best, convincing them, understanding their view point and handling their grievances is always there. Its a work in progress. 100% satisfaction will never be achieved. Look at yourself first! You have unending Kashmir issues, seems like! The real ethnic Terai people should be addressed no doubt, but that is not because India wants it. Its because we need to hear our own people.
We have not prescribed India about how it needs to solve the Kashmir issue or the Gorkhaland issue. India should learn how to respect the decision making of its neighbours and start fixing their own issues. Another hidden agenda of India seems to be that it wants to divert issues to another territory beyond its boundary so that it can hide its own issues from the global arena! Pointing towards Nepal will not hide your own issues, Mr. Modi !
Nepal understands the 'ROTI BETI' policy of India and remains alert because we are a 21st century Nepal and want to deal with India accordingly! Quacks cannot prescibe to us! We have real doctors within Nepal who can and will mend the situation.
