Katy Perry’s Witness misses out on third consecutive No. 1 album spot in Australia

Jun 18, 2017 under Entertainment & Fashion 305

KATY Perry has missed out on her third consecutive No. 1 album in Australia.

Perry’s new album Witness entered at No. 2 behind Ed Sheeran’s 15 week old Divide.

Despite 72 hours of live streaming herself to promote the album Perry sold just 5794 copies in Australia last week.

Sheeran sold 8958 copies to clock up his 13th week on top — after only being dislodged by Harry Styles and Bliss N Eso this year.

Perry was almost kept to No. 3 with UK band London Grammar selling only one copy less of their album Truth is a Beautiful Thing on 5793 sales.

ARIA now include streaming figures to calculate the album chart.

Perry’s previous two albums, Teenage Dream and Prism, both debuted at No. 1 in Australia upon release.

With new albums by Lorde and Nickelback released last week Witness has already sunk to No. 15 on iTunes.

Witness has been dogged by two flop singles — Bon Appetit and Swish Swish — and a string of controversial statements and poor reviews.

Perry will perform a track from Witness during The Voice grand final.

She is expected to announce dates for a 2018 Australian tour during her promotional visit.
